Things to do in July in Swaledale
Here a a few ideas on what you can do this July in and around Swaledale in July. I will update as I find more.
Art exhibitions at The Station in Richmond. There are a number of these scheduled for July, and you can always get a nice bite and drink while you are there. Victoria Bellas Carter & Suzanne Jewellery runs until the 1 September showcasing ‘lampworking‘ jewellery and tissue paper collages.
From July 13 to 31 Julie Macbean is also exhibiting at The Station, her work inspired by inspired by nostalgia or historical events.
The Joy of Ink hosted by Pam Twiss in her studio in Fairfield Mill runs until 21 July and explores the playful use of different techniques and inks of Mill buildings and monoprints with a mid-century retro vibe. While you are there from 10 July to 28 August check out works by the Green Door Artists collective.showcasing paintings, sculptures, prints, ceramics, textiles and glass.

The wonderful Georgian Theatre in Richmond has a full programme in July including performances of Bugsy Malone on the 11/12 July. And later in the month 25/26/27 the Richmond Amatuer Dramatic Society present Alan Ayckbourn’s A Small Family Business.
Walk for Herriot on 14 July is a sponsored (£5, under 18’s free) walk around Jervaulx Abbey and countryside - 3 three routes available to choose from. Dogs welcome.
Yorkshire Dales Food Festival in Skipton on the 20/21st July is well worth a visit. About an hour away but a nice drive via the Ribblehead Viaduct if you fancy it.
Also on the 20/21st July is the Leyburn 1940’s weekend celebrating all things ‘40s including stalls, music, dancing and train events.
The Masham Steam Rally also on 20/21st July for all things steam engine and organ. Music I assume. Be a bit odd otherwise.
