THINGS TO DO IN SWALEDALE IN DECEMBER

Wow, I have said it before and I’ll say it again, where has the year gone? It’s been an eventful year for me personally, some good, some bad but the good definitely wins out - as it always should! I hope you have all had a great year and that 2020 brings you all lots of happiness.

Anyway, cheesiness aside let’s get into December and back into the cheese straight away. For those like me who really do love some cheese at any time of the year but also at Christmas can I recommend The Courtyard Dairy which is based between Ingleton and Settle off the A65. Its about an hour from Low Row but the drive over is a good ‘un vi Ribblehead Viaduct should you choose to go that way.

Onto their cheeses and they have a good stock of Sheeps Cheese, may favourite sort , including the well known Beenleigh Blue but also one I am keen to try the Yorkshire Pecorino. They have some vegetarian options, some suitable for those who are pregnant, goats, blue, soft and smelly and Christmas selections. They also offer free delivery on orders over £55 and also have cheese gift sets, wedding cheese cakes and there is a cafe and shop on site. Blimey, thats a lot of cheese!

if you fancy popping over to Richmond there are a ton of events on at The Station including Christmas Wreath Workshops, a Christmas Brocante (me either) but looks like its a sale of all things seasonal vintage homewares. So there you go. There are also table decoration events, brass bands, a Scalextric event for you all to try your hand at Scalextric racing and a steak night.

The Two Dales Bakery are taking Christmas order now, so support your local shops and order your bread, cakes, puddings and gifts from them.

At the Holy Trinity Church in Low Row there is a Carol Service at 6pm in Low Row. Hopefully I will be popping along to that. Dont think its dog friendly so the mutt will have to stay at home.

Finally dont forget that there are Christmas Carols around the tree in Reeth on December the 22nd at 8pm on Richmond Green.
